WHEELING — Main Street Bank celebrated its 21st birthday anniversary on Monday during which a catered lunch was provided to employees and visitors to the bank’s branches.

The bank opened June 20, 2001. It chose that date to coincide with West Virginia’s statehood celebration.

“We decided to have West Virginia Day as our opening date so that we could honor and celebrate our anniversary along with our great state, and this year we are also celebrating Juneteenth,” said Rich Lucas, president and CEO of Main Street Bank. “In 21 years we have grown to 90 employees, five locations and over $600 million in asset size.”

Main Street Bank’s newest location is in Toronto. This is also the bank’s first location outside of West Virginia.

Bank branches include Main Street in downtown Wheeling, Elm Grove, Wellsburg, Moundsville and Toronto.

Cheri DeBlasis, senior vice president and member of the bank’s board of directors, added, “Main Street Bank has built our reputation on providing our customers the best service and being a primary sponsor in numerous community events.”

The bank also continues to take the health and wellness of its employees and customers into consideration. At three of its locations, including the downtown location, bikes are free to use for both employees on a break or a customer who wants to take a spin. The bikes can be signed out.

The downtown branch is located beside Wheeling’s Heritage Trail in Center Wheeling making it easy for people to take a spin. Lucas said he uses the bikes to ride down to Benwood and back as part of his exercise routine.
