Researchers at the genome centre of the Jashore University of Science and Technology have detected a sub-variant of the Omicron variant of cononavirus after testing samples of two patients in Jashore.
A press release issued by JUST public relations officer Abdur Rashid revealed the information on Tuesday.
JUST microbiology department chairman Professof Iqbal Kabir Jahid headed the team of the researchers.
The team found sub-variant BA.4 in the body of two patients aged 44 and 79.
Of the patients, one was given buster dose of Covid vaccine while the other took two doses of the vaccine, the press release added.
The release said that one of the patients was undergoing treatment at Jashore General Hospital while the rest one was under treatment in his village home.
