Site has new shots for ages 6 months to 5 years
A drive-thru COVID-19 vaccination site at the Jackson County Expo is closing in a week, but in the meantime the site is expanding hours to provide the most shots possible, including newly approved vaccines for children ages 6 months to 5 years.
The site run by the Oregon Health Authority is open from noon to 7 p.m. every day through Thursday, June 30. Free COVID-19 vaccinations are available for all age groups starting at age 6 months. Appointments aren’t needed.
The Expo is located at 1 Peninger Road, Central Point. Enter through Gate 1.
Jackson County Public Health officials expressed gratitude to OHA and workers for operating the mass vaccination sites at The Expo, and prior to that, at the Merrick, formerly known as Inn at the Commons in downtown Medford.
Workers vaccinated thousands of people at the sites. The effort required partnerships and collaboration, said Tanya Phillips, health promotion and preparedness manager for Jackson County Public Health.
“I am thankful to everyone who has assisted us during this time; it has truly been a community-driven effort,” she said in a press release.
Other providers in the community will continue to offer COVID-19 shots, including booster shots. Newly approved shots for the youngest age group yet, the 6-months to 5-year-old group, are arriving in Jackson County.
