DOH Logs 1st Two Cases Of Omicron Variant ‘Centaurus’ | Claudeth Mocon-Ciriaco – BusinessMirror

The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday reported the detection of first two cases of BA.2.75 in the country.

DOH Officer in Charge Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that both cases have been tagged as recovered.

“Two individuals from Region 6 tested positive for the BA.2.75 variant. One individual is partially vaccinated while the other individual is unvaccinated,” Vergeire said in a media forum.

At the moment, the exposure of these individuals, travel histories, and health status are being still verified.

The World Health Organization has classified BA.2.75 as an Omicron subvariant “under monitoring.”

Vergeire said that BA.2.75, also called as  “Centaurus,” is believed to be more transmissible but its severity is still being studied.

BA.5 cases

Based on the latest sequencing run from July 30 to August 1, there were 1,015 additional BA.5 Cases detected, and 883 have been tagged as recovered.

All regions detected the variant except Region 9 and 10, even as three returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs) have tested positive for the BA.5 variant.

Of these cases, 527 individuals are fully vaccinated, 12 are partially vaccinated, 16 cases have not been vaccinated, while the vaccination status of the remaining 460 individuals are still being verified.

“At the moment, the exposure of individuals, travel histories, health status, and vaccination status are being verified,” Vergeire said.

The DOH official said that 84 are still undergoing isolation, while the outcome of 48 others are being verified.

BA.4

Vergeire said that 26 additional BA.4 cases have been detected, and 21 have been tagged as recovered.

Six individuals from the National Capital Region, four from Region 2, three from Region 6, two each from Region 3, Region 5, Region 11, Region 12, Region 4A, and CAR, and one from Region 1 tested positive for the BA.4 variant.

Seventeen individuals are fully vaccinated, 2 cases have not been vaccinated while the vaccination status of the remaining 7 individuals are still being verified.

The exposure of individuals, travel histories, and health status are being verified.

“Two cases are case is still undergoing isolation, while the outcome of the three others are being verified,” Vergeire said.

BA.2.12.1

There were 18 additional BA.2.12.1 Cases detected, and 13 have been tagged as recovered.

Five individuals from NCR, three each from Region 1 and CAR, 2 each from Region 6, Region 7, and Calabarzon, and 1 from Region 2 tested positive for the BA.2.12.1.

Eleven individuals are fully vaccinated; two cases have not been vaccinated while the vaccination status of five others is still being verified.

Meanwhile, the exposure of individuals, travel histories, and health status are being verified.

Four cases are still undergoing isolation, while the outcome of the remaining case is still being verified.
