Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson said Tuesday that he has contracted COVID-19 for the second time and is isolating from the public.
In a statement, the mayor said he tested positive Tuesday morning after learning someone else he had close contact with also had the virus and that he has “very mild cold-like symptoms.”
Johnson is fully vaccinated and has received a booster shot. He previously tested positive for COVID-19 in last October.
He said he is consulting with his doctor regarding his isolation, plans to return to City Hall when he is medically cleared, and urges people to get vaccinated or booster shots if they haven’t done so already.
“While our lives are largely back to normal, the virus is still with us,” Johnson said. “Know your risk factors, take appropriate precautions and be kind to others who may be vulnerable to COVID-19.”
