CHILDREN AS YOUNG AS SIX MONTHS OLD NOW ELIGIBLE FOR THE VACCINE. >> I THINK AS SOON AS WE CAN GET BACK TO NORMAL THAT’S OK REPORTER: PARENTS SAY THEY’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS. >> IF THEY CAN GO MASKLESS WITH VACCINES AND STUFF LIKE THAT I’M ALL FOR IT REPORTER: THE PEDIATRIC DOSES ARE SMALLER. PFIZER IS THREE SHOTS OVER 11 WEEKS. EACH DOSE ONE TENTH THE SIZE OF THE ADULT DOSE. MODERNA’S VACCINE ONE QUARTER THE ADULT DOSE IS TWO SHOTS GIVEN ONE MONTH APART. DR GERGEN BARNETT >> THE GREAT NEWS IS THESE ARE VERY LOW DOSES, THEY’RE VERY SAFE, THE SIDE EFFECTS ARE VERY MINIMAL. REPORTER: THERE ARE CONCERNS ABOUT HESITANCY. IN MASSACHUSETTS MORE THAN 369,000 CHILDREN ARE BETWEEN SIX MONTHS AND FOUR-YEARS-OLD. STATE VACCINATION NUMBERS SHOW IN CHILDREN AGES FIVE TO ELEVEN, 257,000 ARE FULLY VACCINATED. THAT’S ABOUT 58%. DOCTORS SAY PARENTS SHOULD TALK WITH PEDIATRICIANS. >> WE WANT TO KEEP CHILDREN HEALTHY NOT ONLY FOR THEIR OWN SAKE BUT FOR THE SAKE OF EVERYBODY IN THE FAMILY AND IN THE COMMUNITY. REPORTER: AT UNION PHARMACY IN NEWTON THEY’RE ALREADY FIELDING CALLS FROM PEOPLE WHO WANT THEIR LITTLE ONES VACCINATED.
